Dust off your finest formal or cocktail attire and get ready to dance for a worthy cause – disadvantaged children.

The Junee Evening VIEW Club is inviting everyone to its Charity Ball on Saturday, 19 October, at the Atheneum Theatre, Junee, from 6 pm to 11 pm.

“We try to hold a charity event each year because we support five children from The Smith Family,” said event organiser and VIEW club secretary Maggie Salisbury.

“We raise money for their school books and various other needs.”

Ms Salisbury said the charity ball was her idea.

“I’ve been a dancer all my life, so naturally, I thought of something involving dancing,” she said.

“This is the first time we’ve done a charity ball.”

The event will feature the Kapooka Band Jazz Ensemble, which Ms Salisbury arranged through a colleague who had previously organised an event at the Atheneum.

“The Kapooka Band Jazz Ensemble kindly agreed to provide the music for the night,” Ms Salisbury said.

Speaking about the importance of community involvement in the charity ball, Ms Salisbury said the main focus was on helping disadvantaged children.

“They need funds, and we go out of our way to do everything we can to help,” she said.

Ms Salisbury said preparations for the charity ball were going well.

“We’ve organised the table decorations, the tablecloths and the layout of the tables, including who will be seated where,” she said.

“The dance program is also all set. Fingers crossed, everything goes well.”

Ms Salisbury has been part of the Junee Evening VIEW Club for the past three years and enjoys being involved in all the local activities.

“I like getting involved in local stuff,” she said.

“I knew most of the people before I joined that were members anyway.

“It is a good group. We have fun and do what we can to help.”

The ball will feature New Vogue and ballroom dancing, with guests encouraged to wear formal or cocktail attire.

The Junee Evening VIEW Club Charity Ball will be held on Saturday, 19 October, at the Atheneum Theatre, Junee, from 6 pm to 11 pm.

Tickets are $25 per person. It is a BYO event and guests are asked to bring a plate to share for supper. To buy tickets, which can be arranged by email or in person, contact Heather on 0438 624 718.
