Committee 4 Wagga (C4W) is inviting the city’s newest residents to get a greater understanding of the place they now call home at a free event in the CBD next week.
C4W hosts Welcome to Wagga events twice a year and provides a chance for new arrivals to join community leaders and local organisations for a family-friendly barbecue.
The event will be held at the old Ambulance Station on Johnston Street for the first time, making use of the revamped back deck area that overlooks Wollundry Lagoon.
The station is also the home of Eastern Riverina Arts and Regional Development Australia Riverina and the Wagga Business Chamber are also supporting Welcome To Wagga.
Committee 4 Wagga CEO Scott Sanbrook said it was a chance to join an informative evening filled with entertainment, networking, and, of course, food and beverages.
“It’s a great way for newcomers to get an insight to all the wonderful things Wagga has to offer,” he said.
“If you have moved to Wagga in the past 12 months or so we encourage you to come along.
A special “welcome pack” with $100 worth of goods and services provided by Committee 4 Wagga members will be given away to each family in attendance.
Mr Sanbrook said the event in April at Wagga’s Riverside precinct was a success.
“It’s such a great spot and we had over 70 people come down to learn about the community and to meet with locals and have a barbecue.”
Miss Wagga Wagga 2024 Velika Hayes and Community Princess Jess Barclay were special guests at the event that was held in conjunction with the Riverina Discovery Weekend & Country Change Expo.
The event will be held on 8 November from 5:30 to 7:30 pm with food and soft drinks provided.
The event is free, however registrations are required through the Committee 4 Wagga’s website.
