Murrumbidgee Police are investigating an apparent botched attempt to steal truck parts from a vehicle parked at Griffith Airport.
On Sunday 8 February, a truck was parked between two other trucks in the gravel part of the airport carpark and the driver kept the vehicle there for the next 12 days.
At about 9 am on Friday 20 February, the driver started the truck and heard a rattle coming from underneath the vehicle.
The driver moved the truck forward several metres to have a better look at what was causing the rattling, when they located several bolts and a spanner on the ground where the truck had been parked.
Upon further investigation, the driver located several parts underneath the truck that had several bolts removed and were hanging in place, with a socket still attached to one of the bolts underneath the vehicle.
At about 11:30 am that same day, the driver attended Griffith Police Station to report the incident.
A Murrumbidgee Police spokesman said the force would be stepping up patrols of the airport carpark.
