Griffith’s annual City2Lake will run for the eleventh time in March 2025, with organisers urging local business and community members to support the charity fundraiser.
The annual nine-kilometre walk, ride, and run from Jubilee Oval to the Lake Wyangan picnic area is held to support the Griffith branch of Can Assist, a charity dedicated to helping locals impacted by cancer. The organisation provides practical and financial assistance to cancer patients and their families, ensuring they can focus on their health rather than the financial strain that often comes with treatment.
“Sponsors are essential to helping make this event a success, and every cent goes back to the community,” Can Assist Griffith president Olga Forner says.
“This is a great opportunity for businesses to show their support for our community and contribute to an incredibly important cause. Whether you’re a small local business or a larger company, there are sponsorship packages available to suit all levels of support.”
Ms Forner said 2024 was the charity’s toughest ever.
“We have had a horrific year. The cases of cancer that have been coming in have been sad and tragic, but it’s been a really heavy workload,” she said.
She said the City2Lake event was not only a great way to raise funds for Can Assist, but also a celebration of community spirit. It brought together families, friends, and neighbours, all united by the desire to make a difference in the lives of those facing cancer.
Businesses that wish to become sponsors will receive recognition throughout the event, including on race day signage, event marketing materials, and social media promotions.
Registration for participants will open soon, but organisers are urging sponsors to get on board early to ensure maximum visibility.
“We are so grateful to those who have already signed up as sponsors, but we still have plenty of opportunities for more businesses to get involved. Every contribution, big or small, helps us reach our goal of raising funds for those who need it most,” Ms Forner said.
