A 38-year-old Griffith man is behind bars awaiting a court hearing after he allegedly tried to climb into the bedroom of a female resident.

About 1:50 am on Monday (15 December), the woman, who lives on Banna Avenue, was woken when she heard the flyscreen on her bedroom being removed. The woman allegedly saw a leg entering through her window.

A police spokesperson said she yelled and saw the leg pulled back through the window.

The woman looked out her bedroom window and saw a man. She called police, who attended and located a 38-year-old male nearby.

The man was arrested and taken to Griffith Police Station, where he was charged with breaking and entering with the intention to steal and possessing goods suspected of being stolen.

The man was refused bail and will appear before Griffith Local Court on 4 February 2026.
