A 23-year-old Griffith woman will face court next week after allegedly assaulting a woman, undressing and fleeing in her underwear before allegedly breaking into a house and intimidating two residents, then attacking a stranger in the street.
Acting Griffith Police Inspector Paul Rosano told Region the alleged incidents began at 11:45 am on Friday (6 September) when the woman went to a house in Middleton Crescent, Griffith, while intoxicated.
At the house, the woman allegedly got into an argument with another woman known to her before grabbing her by her hair and striking her several times on the nose, causing it to bleed. The person of interest was allegedly in an irate state, punching a window and causing it to shatter, before undressing and fleeing in her underwear.
The woman then attended an address on Snaith Place in Griffith, where she allegedly smashed a window and climbed inside the premises. Once inside, she allegedly confronted two residents, who felt intimidated by her actions and took refuge in a room, barricading an internal door shut. The female person of interest allegedly banged on the internal door, yelling angrily at the two residents.
Unable to open the door, the 23-year-old left the house and was then confronted in the street by a female member of the public, who she allegedly physically assaulted, leaving her with facial cuts and a broken nose.
As this was occurring, police arrived and saw the agitated woman run from the scene still in her underwear. Police gave chase and arrested her a short distance away.
She has been charged with multiple offences including aggravated breaking and entering and committing a serious indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, and destroying and damaging property. She has been refused bail and will appear before Griffith Local Court on 18 September.
