A Griffith teen who was allegedly involved in the theft of a Nissan X-Trail that was allegedly used to ramraid a shop to steal two motorbikes last year has been arrested by police, who found him hiding under a bed after his alleged involvement in the theft of a Toyota Camry more recently.

The 2012 silver Nissan X-Trail was allegedly stolen from Konoa Street on 21 October 2024.

This vehicle was allegedly used to ram and push the secured gate of the business Griffith Motorcycle Centre’s yard open. The vehicle then reversed out, at which time two males allegedly entered the yard and wheeled the motorcycles out of the gate, started them and rode off in a northeasterly direction towards Binya Street, followed by the Nissan X-Trail.

The 19-year-old suspect was also allegedly involved in an aggravated break and enter offence that occurred in the early hours of Saturday 18 January, when a silver Toyota Camry was allegedly stolen and later found destroyed by fire at the intersection of Little Road and Foreshaw Avenue.

At about 11:30 pm on Friday (24 January), police attended an address in Heath Crescent and located the suspect, who was allegedly hiding under a bed. The man was placed under arrest for the outstanding arrest warrants.

At the time of the arrest, a knife was allegedly found in his pocket.

The man was taken to Griffith Police Station, where he was later charged with breaching his bail, carrying a weapon upon apprehension, larceny, and entering a vehicle without the consent of the owner.

He was refused bail and appeared before Parramatta local court on 25 January.
