Griffith police release CCTV footage after suspicious house fire on Rae Road

Murrumbidgee Police have released CCTV footage in the hope of obtaining information on a suspicious fire in town two months ago.

At about 6 pm on Wednesday 28 May, emergency services were called to Rae Road, Griffith, following reports of a house fire.

The owner returned home to find the house alight, and attempted to put out the blaze. A short time later, Fire and Rescue NSW arrived and extinguished the fire. The house was damaged. No one was injured.

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District responded and established a crime scene.

The fire is being treated as suspicious.

Following inquiries, police have released CCTV of a man who could assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being around 180 cm tall, of medium build, with short, shaved dark hair and stubble.

He was wearing a maroon long sleeve shirt, grey knee-length cargo shorts, tanned lace-up work boots and sunglasses.

Anyone with information, mobile phone footage or CCTV is urged to come forward and contact Griffith Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
