A Griffith man is facing a string of charges after he allegedly sparked a police pursuit while driving his ute, fled on foot and was found hiding under a bed in a house in Heath Crescent.
At 11:12 am on Sunday (1 June), officers were patrolling Walla Avenue, Griffith, when they saw a silver Isuzu D-Max ute, whose driver covered his face when he noticed the police.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and a pursuit was allegedly initiated when the ute failed to pull over.
The alleged pursuit went on through several streets before the driver headed into Doherty Place at Griffith and ran from the vehicle on foot.
A short time later, police received information that the 30-year-old male driver had run into a house in Heath Crescent.
Officers went to the house and allegedly found the man hiding under a bed. Police will allege they also located two small clear resealable bags of methylamphetamine on and near the man.
The man was arrested and taken back to Griffith Police Station where he was charged with failing to stop on a police pursuit, driving dangerously, never holding a license and driving a vehicle on the road, and possessing a prohibited drug.
