Griffith’s Commonwealth Bank branch in Banna Avenue reopened today (11 August), sporting $4 million worth of upgrades.

The bank closed for refurbishments in mid-June, during which time the bank operated a converted 12-metre (40-foot) shipping container that provided more limited services in the carpark in Railway Parade.

You’ll no longer need to go there as the new branch will operate from its same longstanding location at 246 Banna Avenue and feature teller counters, private meeting rooms and waiting areas, improved banking technology, 24/7 access to ATMs (with instant cash and coin deposit capability), accessibility features and digital media walls.

The bank also features impressive artwork.

“We’ve proudly served the Griffith community for over 90 years, and we’re excited to reopen our newly upgraded branch from Monday, 11 August,” a Commonwealth Bank spokesman said.

“This $4 million investment brings a fresh, modern space with self-service banking and open-plan and private meeting areas, designed to make banking easier and more personal for everyone.

“We warmly welcome our Griffith customers to the new CommBank branch and look forward to unveiling the next stage of the refurbishment over the next month.”

While bank branches have closed in many small Riverina towns, Griffith still has several in operation, including Westpac, ANZ, NAB, St George, Rabobank and Bendigo Bank.

The Commonwealth Bank, at 246 Banna Avenue, is open from 9:30 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.
