Current Wagga Wagga councillor Georgie Davies and her Getting It Done ticket have drawn the first spot (Group A) on the ballot for the upcoming Local Government elections.
Cr Davies cheered as her team was drawn ahead of 11 others during Thursday’s official draw, giving her the top-of-the-ticket advantage in above-the-line voting.
The Getting It Done ticket includes five of the 61 candidates looking to fill nine positions on Wagga Wagga City Council.
Seven sitting councillors are looking for re-election with Mayor Dallas Tout and his Community First group claiming the second spot (Group B) ahead of Richard Foley and the Foley’s Five (Group C) while Deputy Mayor Amelia Parkins’ Labour for Wagga ticket will appear fourth (Group D).
Cr Davies said she was pleased to have the coveted first place on the ballot but hoped the team’s message was what drew the votes.
“We represent young families and women in particular that might have issues,” she said.
“Position A is a very good one to have and I’m not going to return it but our values and what we think we can bring to council is more important at the end of the day.”
Continuing down the list, Robert Sinclair and the Fix Our Roads ticket drew fifth (Group E), Lindsey Tanner and Building Tomorrow Together drew sixth (Position F) while Cr Jenny McKinnon and The Greens will appear in the middle of the ballot (Group G) after being drawn seventh followed by Nabi Saba and the Voices of Wagga Residents (Position H).
Cr Tim Kochel and Mick Henderson’s team will feature on the lower half of the ballot after drawing ninth (Group I) with Rory McKenzie and the Diversity ticket sitting tenth (Group J).
Newcomer Ryan Dedini and his team will be the penultimate name on the ballot (Group K) with Paul McCausland and the Australian Christians drawing last (Group L).
