Police have charged four men with multiple offences over the alleged theft of property and cars across the Riverina.
The four were allegedly involved in the theft of six cars in the Murray River Police District, the Riverina Police District and north-east Victoria.
Following their investigations, Murray River Proactive Crime Team officers went to Wagga Wagga Police Station on 19 March and charged a 27-year-old man already in custody with receiving property stolen outside NSW.
Police say the charge relates to a Holden Commodore allegedly stolen from Springhurst, Victoria, on 8 February. The man will remain in custody and will appear before Albury Local Court on 15 April.
On Wednesday, 20 March, Murray River officers arrested a 20-year-old man already in custody at Albury Police Station and charged him with 11 offences.
These included driving without consent of the owner, two counts of dishonestly obtaining property by deception, two counts of disposing of stolen motor vehicle parts, driving without a licence, using an unauthorised number plate, goods suspected stolen from a premise, receiving stolen property, not disclosing the identity of the driver, and not parking wholly within a parking bay.
Police say the charges relate to a grey Nissan Maxima sedan allegedly stolen from Thurgoona (on 6 January) and a white Toyota Camry sedan allegedly stolen from Henty (11 February).
The man was refused bail and appeared before Albury Local Court on 20 March. He is set to reappear at the same court on 1 May.
Officers also charged a 23-year-old man with two counts of taking and driving a vehicle without the consent of the owner and two counts of disposing of stolen motor vehicle parts. These relate to the alleged thefts of a black Nissan Patrol SUV from Carrawarna on 30 January and a grey Jeep Cherokee SUV from Thurgoona on 31 January.
The man remains in custody and will appear in Albury Local Court on 30 April.
Police also charged another 23-year-old man with the alleged theft of a white Subaru Outback station wagon in Albury on 26 September, 2023.
He will appear before Albury Local Court on 16 May charged with taking and driving a vehicle without the consent of the owner and disposing of stolen motor vehicle parts.
