A former school teacher has been charged with historic indecent assault charges dating back to the 1980s in the Riverina.

In 2025, the Department of Education informed NSW Police of alleged indecent acts, allegedly involving a teacher and a student which occurred at a Riverina High School in 1984. The alleged incidents were not reported to the police at the time.

Detectives attached to Riverina Police District then commenced an investigation.

At about 7:45 am on Wednesday (20 August), an 86-year-old man was arrested at Wagga Wagga Police Station.
