Innovative food business Flavourtech has unveiled its new premises in Griffith soon after winning two major honours at export awards in Sydney and Canberra.
The facilities at Irving Place, named after one of the company’s founders, feature modern workspaces, meeting rooms, electrical manufacturing, CNC machining and will initially house more than 50 Griffith-based office staff with room to add to this number in the future.
“The building has been fully renovated to accommodate both recent and future growth, and we look forward to welcoming customers and suppliers to our fantastic new space,” said Flavourtech CEO Leon Skaliotis.
“Overseas demand for our unique technologies is continuing to grow, and this additional space allows us to manufacture and ship more of our systems from Griffith to the world.”
Flavourtech is also setting up a new pilot plant and offices at the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands.
Its continued expansion shows the success of the company that pioneered a magical device known as the Spinning Cone Column in 1987 – the first machine able to extract flavours and aromas from foods and beverages without damaging the quality or reducing the shelf life of a product. This led to partnerships with coffee producers, wineries and food manufacturers all over the world, which are able to ulitise Flavourtech’s skills and resources to refine and enhance what they sell.

At an opening celebration of the new Griffith premises on Tuesday (9 December), guests were served zero alcohol beer and wine produced by the Spinning Cone Column.
The event was attended by Member for Murray Helen Dalton, Griffith Mayor Doug Curran, the Chair of the Export Council of Australia Dianne Tipping, and industry bodies including Business NSW, Investment NSW, RDA Riverina and AusIndustry.
Several of Flavourtech’s suppliers and customers attended, as well as the CEOs of its North American and South American distributors. They were given a tour of the company’s new and existing manufacturing facilities.
Minister for Industry and Trade, The Hon. Anoulack Chanthivong MP, could not attend the event but sent a video of congratulations to Flavourtech regarding the new facility.
The new office was opened after Flavourtech won the NSW Regional Exporter of the Year award in Sydney in October and then received a commendation at the National Export Awards at Parliament House last week.
The Premier’s NSW Export Awards acknowledge the achievements exporters make in improving NSW’s economic activity, boosting jobs and recognising their hard work and determination to succeed.
At the nationwide Australian Export Awards, Flavourtech was edged by Renmark nut producers Almondco Australia, which has expanded its overseas operations and lifted exports to countries such as Turkey and South Africa.
