Five arrested in major Riverina crackdown on alleged illegal drug supply

Five people have been charged with more than 30 drug offences in the Riverina after police allegedly seized methamphetamine, cannabis and cash.

Police established Strike Force Mundin in March to investigate a group allegedly supplying prohibited drugs to the Albury region from March to October 2024.

Murray River and Riverina Police District officers, with support from the NSW Raptor Squad and the NSW Dog Unit, executed three simultaneous search warrants at properties in Borella Road, Resolution Street and Sylvania Avenue, North Albury, about 10 am on Tuesday (15 October).

At the Borella Road home, police allegedly seized methamphetamine and cash and arrested two women, aged 21 and 52, and a 25-year-old man. They were taken to Albury police station.

The 52-year-old woman was charged with 15 offences, including supplying prohibited drugs, dealing with the proceeds of crime equal to or greater than $100,000, knowingly allowing premises to be used for drug-related activities, and knowingly or recklessly directing a criminal group to assist in a crime.

The 21-year-old woman was charged with five counts of supplying prohibited drugs and participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity.

The 25-year-old man was charged with supplying prohibited drugs and participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity.

The 52-year-old woman and the man were refused bail and appeared before Albury Local Court on 16 October, while the 21-year-old woman was granted conditional bail to appear before the same court on 23 October.

At the Sylvania Avenue home, police allegedly seized a mobile phone and drugs and arrested a 55-year-old man.

He was taken to Albury police station and charged with two counts of possessing prohibited drugs.

At the Resolution Street address, police allegedly seized cannabis and arrested a 47-year-old woman, who was taken to Albury police station.

She was charged with four counts of supplying prohibited drugs, participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity, and possessing prohibited drugs.

The 55-year-old man and 47-year-old woman were granted conditional bail and are set to appear at Albury Local Court on 23 October.
