ErinEarth is set to host its autumn food festival with a veritable feast for the mind, body, and soul.
ErinEarth is a sustainable living education centre and volunteering community that showcases a waterwise native plant garden and organic vegetable growing.
This year, ErinEarth is offering a fully loaded festival line-up, featuring Jane Reid of The Gathered Green and Rick Storrier of Ten Thousand Harvest as guest speakers. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear about regenerative agriculture transformation and success stories in small-scale urban farming.
ErinEarth communications officer Sam Holt says the upcoming Food for Life Festival will promote regenerative agriculture and sustainable living through food and community events.
“We’re trying to push good quality, healthy foods that come from healthy soils … and encourage people to become aware of some of our amazing providers in the area,” said Sam.
“The Gathered Green out at Young do regenerative agriculture beef and lamb and they also serve up fresh veggie boxes each week. And Rick from Ten Thousand Harvest grows mushrooms in his shipping container.
“Jane and Rick will provide food for the day and give guest presentations to answer any questions on what you would need to set up these kinds of operations and also share their story.”
The festival promises to treat its attendees with mouthwatering culinary delights. The cafe onsite will serve mushroom burgers, grass-fed beef burgers, sausage sandwiches, coffee, tea, and cakes.
Attendees may even get a chance to taste some kangaroo by the campfire cooked by Uncle Michael Lyons from Sandhill Artefacts in Narrandera.
“The big push for the festivals is that … culture was born while people were waiting for food to cook,” Sam said.
“We will be doing a slow food thing where we’ll be setting up cakes, burgers, snags, and encourage people to have a yarn and tell some stories while they wait for their food and learn a thing or two about gardening and farming.”
The festival will also feature live music, engaging children’s activities and workshops.
Don’t miss out on this autumn celebration, with all the tips and tricks to enjoy fresh, homegrown food all year round.
ErinEarth Autumn Festival – Food for Life will be held on Saturday 6 April at The ErinEarth Garden from 9:30 am to 2 pm. Entry to the festival is free.
