A 69-year-old Griffith woman will face court on alleged drink driving charges after police saw her almost crash into a tree.

Just after midnight on Saturday (30 August), officers in Darlington point observed a grey Mitsubishi Lancer turning into King Street.

Police will allege they saw the vehicle drive off the road and almost collide with a tree before swerving erratically back onto the roadway.

Officers activated their warning signals and stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, requesting she undertake a roadside breath test.

This test allegedly returned a positive result. The driver was arrested and taken to Darlington Point Police Station, where she underwent a breath analysis, which allegedly returned a high range reading result of 0.161 – more than three times the legal limit. The driver was issued a court attendance notice for the alleged offence.
