A 56-year-old man has been charged with negligent driving over a crash in the Riverina in February.
A NSW Police spokesperson said emergency services were called at about 9:10 am on 10 February 2026 to Barham Road, near Lower Thule road at Thule, about 30 kilometres east of Barham.
On arrival, officers found a B-double and a car had collided and flipped onto their sides.
The truck went down an embankment and caught alight, according to the spokesperson, before members of the public helped free the 61-year-old driver.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated him for serious burns and a head injury, before he was taken to a Melbourne hospital.
Police said the 56-year-old male driver of the utility was also trapped.
After he was freed, he was treated for multiple serious injuries by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Echuca Hospital.
Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the truck fire.
Officers attached to Murray River Police District launched an investigation, with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Following their inquiries, the 56-year-old man was issued with a court attendance notice for negligent driving (occasioning grievous bodily harm) and not keeping left of dividing line (not class B/C vehicle).
He will face Deniliquin Local Court on 16 December, 2026.
