Wagga Wagga and Griffith will once again host preseason matches for the GIANTS Super Netball team in 2025.

Arriving in Griffith on 6 February for community engagement and school visits, the occasion marks the second year in a row that the GIANTS have toured the Riverina. The club will host last year’s grand finalists the Melbourne Vixens on 7 February at the Regional Sports Centre at 6:45 pm before travelling to Wagga Wagga on 8 February.

“We’re thrilled to confirm the return of our Riverina Road Trip in 2025 and return to both Griffith and Wagga Wagga once again,” said GIANTS Netball General Manager of Community and Events, Kristina Genovese-Jones.

“Griffith, a cultural gem in the heart of regional NSW, is one of the most vibrant and cosmopolitan towns in the area. Famous for its exceptional food, wine, and unique local experiences, Griffith is a must-visit destination for GIANTS fans looking to explore the very best of regional Australia.

The second game will be played at the Wagga Wagga Multi-Purpose Stadium on Sunday 9 February at noon.

Wagga Wagga, the largest inland city in NSW, boasts a thriving netball community with more than 1700 participants.

“The support we received during our visit last year was truly overwhelming and we’re beyond excited to reconnect with both of these incredible netball communities once again,” Ms Genovese-Jones said.

“As a club driven by strong community values, we jump at any opportunity to take our game and showcase our club outside of metropolitan Sydney. This road trip will be a great chance for our fans and the local netball communities to meet our players and coaching staff and get an exclusive preview of our team ahead of the upcoming Suncorp Super Netball season.”

Griffith City Council Mayor Doug Curran said the overwhelming success of last year’s preseason match made the decision to host again an easy one.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our community to enjoy world-class netball right here in Griffith,” he said.

“Events like this shine a spotlight on our city, bringing people together to celebrate sport, teamwork, and community spirit while supporting our local businesses.”

Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga Councillor Dallas Tout welcomed the announcement about the date and ticketing details for the game at the city’s Multi-Purpose Stadium at the Wagga Wagga Exhibition Centre.

“This is an exciting opportunity for residents of our city and the surrounding area to catch what should be a great game of elite netball in our own backyard, so to speak,” Cr Tout said.

“Going by the strong turnout to GIANTS’ sell-out preseason game here in March this year, I think the tickets for the game on 9 February will be snapped up quickly, so make sure you’re ready to book your seat courtside when they go on sale early in the new year!”

Tickets to both matches will go on sale on Friday 10 January at 10 am with 2025 GIANTS Netball members able to access an exclusive priority ticketing window.
