Cyclist dies in North Griffith following street sweeper collision

A man has died following a crash between a bike and a small truck at North Griffith on Friday (26 September).

At about 7 am, police were called to the intersection of Boonah street, Noorebah Avenue and Kooba Street following reports a cyclist and street sweeper collided.

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District responded and were told the street sweeper was turning from Boonah into Kooba Street, when a male cyclist collided with the side of the street sweeper.

NSW Ambulance responded, however the man – believed to be in his 70s – died at the scene.

The 66-year-old male driver of the truck was not injured and was taken to Griffith Hospital for mandatory testing.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward and contact Griffith Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
