Construction is underway on the $25 million Finley Hospital redevelopment, marking a significant milestone in the delivery of enhanced health services for Finley and surrounding communities.
The redevelopment will deliver an improved patient-focused health service and enhanced models of care across all existing services.
Health staff and community members joined representatives from the project team on-site this week to celebrate the start of works, which included planting a tree to commemorate the key milestone.
The Finley Hospital Redevelopment will include new inpatient rooms; a relocated medical imaging unit and a new ultrasound service; an expanded and reconfigured reception area; improvements to the emergency department; essential service upgrades, including IT to provide a better connected health service; and improvements to staff facilities.
The redevelopment has been informed by extensive feedback and consultation with health professionals, staff, patients, Aboriginal community representatives and the Local Health Advisory Committee.
Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park said it was an exciting time for the Southern NSW area, with the new hospital providing much-needed care.
“This is an exciting day for Finley and the wider community, with the start of works marking a major step forward in delivering the modern hospital facilities this region deserves,” he said.
“The $25 million investment will significantly improve the experience of patients, families and health workers, and ensure the community can continue to access high-quality care close to home.
“I look forward to seeing the redevelopment take shape, which includes new inpatient rooms, a relocated medical imaging unit and a new ultrasound service, as well as improvements to the emergency department.”
Member for Murray Helen Dalton said the wait for the Finley Hospital had been a long one and she was happy for work to finally begin.
“I’m thrilled to see the Finley Hospital Redevelopment becoming a reality, which has been designed to meet the unique health care needs of local communities in Finley, Berrigan, Barooga, Tocumwal and Jerilderie,” she said.
“The Finley Hospital Redevelopment will not only deliver enhanced care for patients but also provide a boost to the local economy during construction, supporting jobs and creating opportunities for local trades and supplies in our region throughout construction.”
The project is expected to be completed in 2027. For more information and to stay up to date on the project go to the Finley Health Service Redevelopment webpage.
