A 27-year-old Carrathool man has been refused bail after police alleged he used a block splitter to force his way into a south Griffith home before stealing property and later being found with knives and air gun pellets.
Police allege the incident unfolded about 10.08 am on Tuesday (July 7), when the man went to the Spence Road home of a person known to him.
It is alleged he used a log splitter axe to force open the front door before entering the property while nobody was home.
Police further allege the man ripped a CCTV camera from its mounting, stole a lawn mower from the garage along with other items from inside the house, and then drove away.
About an hour later, police allegedly located the man standing beside his vehicle at a service station on Banna Avenue, Griffith.
During a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly found two knives and air gun pellets.
The man was arrested and taken to Griffith Police Station, where he was charged with break and enter, stalking or intimidation, destroying or damaging property, possessing ammunition without holding the required licence or permit, and two counts of custody of a knife in a public place.
Police refused him bail and he later appeared before the Bail Division Court, where he was remanded in custody.
