A car flipped over and two men were arrested after a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle between Leeton and the small town of Gogelderie last week.
At about 11 am on Thursday (19 June), police were conducting patrols along Toorak Road, Leeton, when they observed a vehicle that they believed to be stolen.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it allegedly failed to stop, instigating a pursuit.
A short time later, the driver allegedly lost control on Houghton Road, Gogeldrie, approximately 17 km southwest of Leeton, before the car flipped.
The occupants allegedly fled from officers and were arrested after a short foot pursuit a short distance away.
Police searched the vehicle and allegedly located and seized a firearm and drugs.
The 29-year-old male driver and a 24-year-old male passenger were arrested and taken to Griffith Police Station.
The 29-year-old was charged with multiple offences including: aggravated breaking and entering, stealing a motor vehicle, stealing a trailer, larceny, entering enclosed agricultural lands, as well as four counts of not stopping for police, five counts of driving whilst disqualified, two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, three outstanding warrants, possessing unauthorised firearms and other firearms offences.
He was refused bail and appeared in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Friday (20 June).
He will re-appear in Griffith Local Court on Wednesday 16 July 2025.
The 24-year-old man was charged with carry and conveyance (taking a vehicle without the consent of the owner). He was bailed to appear at Griffith Local Court on 16 July 2025.
Police will allege in court the car was stolen from a property in Yenda on Wednesday (18 June).
