A learner driver caught driving without supervision while allegedly having methamphetamine and cannabis in his system has reportedly asked officers the question: “Can I still get my Ps?”
At about 7:18 am on Monday (14 July), police were conducting proactive patrols on the Kidman Way in the suburb of Tharbogang where they stopped a silver Nissan Pulsar sedan being driven by a 25-year-old man.
The driver was stopped by police for roadside testing and was asked to produce his licence. The driver produced a NSW learner licence and at the time, was allegedly not being supervised by a fully licensed Australian driver.
Police subjected the driver to drug and alcohol testing in which he produced a positive result to methamphetamine and cannabis in his oral fluid.

The driver’s licence was immediately suspended for a period of three months for driving unsupervised and he was issued a number of penalty notices, which added up to a total combined fine of $1689.
Formal action will be taken against the driver in relation to the illicit drugs allegedly present in his system when the oral fluid sample obtained from the driver is analysed by New South Wales Police Laboratories.
