Wagga is set to get a 7-Eleven service station, much to the applause of Krispy Kreme lovers across the city.

Development company Stevens Group officially lodged plans for an undisclosed service station at 29 Pearson Street in September last year before submitting plans for a 7-Eleven earlier this month.

According to the plans released by the Stevens Group, the service station will include:

• Construction of a new service station, including a 240 sqm convenience store building containing a customer service counter, retail floor space, office, storeroom, cool room and amenities. The store is inclusive of a signage tower with the 7-Eleven Logo.

• Installation of underground fuel tanks and their related infrastructure.

• Installation of three (3) double-sided fuel dispensers (appropriately bunded) and overhead canopy.

• Construction of a stormwater pit with a Stormstack filtration system.

• Installation of indicative business identification signage on the eastern face of the convenience store.

• Car parking for nine vehicles, including one disabled space and one air-water space.

“The service station will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week and employ two staff Monday-Friday and one staff for night and weekend shifts,” the development application reads.

“A new driveway access on Pearson Street is required as part of the proposal; therefore, approval under Section 138 will be required from council once a consent has been granted.”

The construction of the new 7-Eleven may be the first of its kind in Wagga, but there are already more than 30 service stations within the Wagga local government area.

Despite this, the Stevens Group insists the development is within the public’s interest.

“The site is currently utilised for a bricks and roofing retail display outlet,” the DA said.

“The proximity to major commercial hubs like Bunnings enhances the commercial appeal of the area, making it a strategic location for new developments such as the proposed service station.

“The neighbourhood around Pearson Street features a combination of commercial buildings.

“The streetscape is defined by moderate to high activity levels, primarily due to the commercial nature of the zone. Existing structures vary in design, with a prevalence of single and multi-storey buildings that accommodate a range of commercial and retail functions.”

The site is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026.
