Police have located a body believed to be that of a 19-year-old man who went missing in Riverina floodwaters on Saturday (26 November).
At about noon on Saturday, emergency services were called to River Street, Balranald, near the Murrumbidgee River, following reports a man swimming in floodwaters had gone underwater and failed to resurface.
Extensive multi-agency land and water searches were then initiated, involving personnel from the Barrier Police District, State Emergency Services (SES), Rural Fire Service, Marine Rescue and specialist police which stretched over multiple days.
A body was then discovered at about 8:30 am on Wednesday (30 November). It is believed to be that of the missing 19-year-old.
The body is yet to be formally identified. A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
