UPDATE – 11 May, 6:00 pm: The body of alleged murderer Julian Ingram has been found after a near-four-month manhunt.

Earlier today (11 May), NSW Police announced a body had been found beside a ute at Roundhill Nature Reserve, in the state’s west.

Speaking to media on Monday evening, Western Region Commander Assistant Commissioner Andrew Holland said police believe it is his body.

“It’s yet to be formally identified, but the identification at the scene that we’ve located, the clothing that the deceased is wearing, would lead us to believe that it is him.”

Police were seeking Ingram in connection with the alleged murders of his pregnant ex-partner Sophie Quinn, her aunt Nerida Quinn and John Harris in Lake Cargelligo on 22 January 2026.

He said the body had been at the scene for “some time”, with the body found in “a very decomposed state.”

He said the vehicle matched the ute driven by Julian Ingram, while a firearm and Ingram’s driver’s license were found at the scene.

Assistant Commissioner Holland said there will be a coronial inquest.

He said part of that investigation would cover whether police missed Ingram during their searches, noting that the reserve is located 100km from Lake Cargelligo.

He also said NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service staff found the abandoned vehicle while carrying out feral animal eradication in the area.

He said there had been no “positive sightings” of Ingram since 22 January.

“Our initial investigations in that area were directed towards the Nombinnie Nature Reserve, which is on the other side of the major highway.”

He said they had “all intentions” of launching court proceedings against him, and praised the work of officers.

“The investigation and the amount of resources have been understandably draining on the Western Region, and obviously more so on the Central West Police District, but they’ve done an outstanding job to get to this point.”

He said the discovery would bring “closure” to large parts of the community.

“[It] brings closure to this investigation. It brings closure to the people of Lake Cargelligo, and gives some solace to the town, so they can relax.”

The discovery was made 50 kilometres north-west of Lake Cargelligo.

At about 3:30 pm today, officers attached to Central West Police District were informed about an abandoned vehicle at Roundhill Nature Reserve.

“On arrival, police located the body of a man who is believed to be aged in his late 30s.

“He is yet to be formally identified, and a crime scene has been established.”

The statement did not confirm reports circulating online that the body is that of alleged triple-murderer Julian Ingram, and the police spokesperson said investigations into a mass shooting in the state’s Riverina were ongoing.
