A Wagga Wagga cafe and hairdresser remain closed due to extensive damage caused by a fire overnight.
Emergency services were called to Blake Street, Wagga Wagga, following reports of a fire at Pot ‘n’ Kettle Coffee House at about 10:30 pm on Sunday (8 September).
Five Fire and Rescue NSW trucks from Turvery Park and Wagga Wagga attended the scene and extinguished the fire, which caused extensive damage.
At the same time, the residents in the adjoining buildings were evacuated.
First responders found the coffee shop on fire when they arrived and firefighters wearing airsets quickly began attacking the fire with lines of hose.
Firefighters also searched the structure, finding no one inside.
Just before midnight, firefighters reported that they had contained the fire, which was extinguished just after 12:30 am.
The café and hairdressers were described as “destroyed by fire”, while an adjoining unit suffered smoke and water damage.
One person was treated by ambulance.
Wagga Wagga Police Station officers attended and commenced an investigation. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Pot ‘n’ Kettle Coffee House posted a black image on Facebook declaring that, “Due to a fire, the cafe will be closed until further notice”.
