An allegedly stolen Griffith car has been recovered in Wagga Wagga after police arrested two men allegedly linked to a second suspected stolen vehicle.

The gold Toyota Camry was allegedly stolen from the driveway of a home on Gillmartin Drive, Griffith, at about 4:30 am on Monday (3 August).

Police said the owner had driven into the driveway and left the Camry unlocked with the keys inside while they briefly entered the house to collect some items.

About 10 minutes later, the owner returned to find the vehicle gone.

CCTV from a nearby property captured two people dressed in dark clothing allegedly entering the Camry before it was stolen.

Two days later, at about 7:30 am on Wednesday (5 August), a Kia Sportage was reported stolen from Mount Austin in Wagga.

The Kia was reportedly seen travelling with the Camry, prompting a police operation by officers from the Riverina Police District.

A 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were arrested, with both the Kia Sportage and the gold Camry recovered.

Police are reminding motorists to lock their vehicles and take their keys with them, even when leaving a car in their own driveway for only a short time.

“Even if you are only going inside for a few minutes, take your keys and lock your vehicle,” police warned.
