The Royal Australian Air Force will conduct two flying displays over RAAF Base Wagga at Forest Hill on Thursday morning (10 August).
The displays are to coincide with an internal careers day being hosted by the RAAF School of Technical Training on the base. While the event is not open to the public, the flying display will be easily viewed from near the base.
With the caveat that all display times are subject to change due to weather, air traffic control or aircraft availability, a Lockheed Martin F-35A fighter from No 2 Operational Conversion Unit (2OCU) based at RAAF Williamtown near Newcastle is scheduled to conduct a handling display over the base from 11:30 am.
This will be followed at 11:50 am by a flypast of a Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft from No 11 Squadron based at RAAF Edinburgh in Adelaide.
The F-35A is a very loud aircraft and it is recommended young children and elderly wear hearing protection. The P-8A is based on a commercial 737 airliner and is much quieter.
