Wagga Wagga’s evolving commercial landscape has welcomed a sustainable, state-of-the-art business facility in the heart of the city.

Wagga Wagga RSL Club has dramatically transformed the former Commercial Club into the new Commercial Hub.

“The Commercial Hub is a fantastic, modern, and sustainable place for businesses to operate in Wagga,” said Wagga RSL president Jane Barnes.

“The Commercial Club was a much-loved institution. People enjoyed coming to the club, but unfortunately, it was no longer viable. It had passed its days as a club.

“However, we wanted a space that the community could still use, so we transformed it into a thriving business community.”

In 2009, Wagga RSL Club merged with the Commercial Club, investing more than $2 million to modernise the venue for its members.

Despite these efforts, the club shut its doors in 2020 due to ongoing financial losses, exacerbated by the impact of COVID-19.

Construction on the $7 million redevelopment took around 12 months and was completed in April-May 2024, with new tenants moving in soon after.

The hub boasts state-of-the-art fittings, fixtures, and amenities, with a strong focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, ensuring long-term benefits for tenants and the environment.

Wagga RSL Club highlighted the hub’s energy-efficient lighting, water-saving measures, and sustainable building materials as a testament to its commitment to environmental responsibility.

“There aren’t many businesses in Central Wagga that are on ground level and offer as many parking spaces as we have been able to provide. We are fortunate and unique in that regard,” Ms Barnes said.

The vibrant new space is now home to five Wagga businesses: RSM Accounting, RDAS, Regional Business Lawyers, NRL, and Kate Powell Finance.

Ms Barnes said the new tenants were enjoying their clean, modern workspace.

“Wagga is growing rapidly, particularly in the commercial sector,” she said.

“It’s important that we have professional, high-quality spaces for businesses to operate from.”

She said the RSL Club was also undergoing significant renovations.

“We are excited about these changes, and if you visit the club, you’ll see a lot of construction underway at the moment,” she said.

“Hopefully, by the end of the year, everything will be open, and people will see what we’ve been working on.”

The club is also in the process of hiring a new general manager as it continues to expand.

“Creating spaces like the Commercial Hub is just the beginning. We will continue to seek opportunities that benefit our members and the wider Wagga community,” Ms Barnes said.
