A teenage L-plate driver accompanied by an adult male in the passenger seat has been allegedly clocked at 57 km/h more than the maximum speed limit allowed in his licence category.
On Monday (9 June) at 2:25 pm, a 16-year-old male learner driver was detected travelling along Burley Griffin Way at Kamarah in a white Hyundai Sedan at 147 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
A learner driver is only permitted to drive at a maximum speed of 90 km/h in NSW, even on a road where the limit exceeds this.
The driver was stopped and issued with an infringement notice for exceeding the speeding limit by more than an estimated 30 km per hour and his licence was immediately suspended.
A 38-year-old male supervising the learner driver was spoken to by police. As a result of his lack of supervision of the learner driver, he was issued with an infringement notice for failing to supervise the learner.
