Griffith police are appealing for information after a man was allegedly the victim of a carjacking at Nericon, near Griffith, at the weekend.

About 8 am on Saturday (24 May), a 20-year-old man was driving his red Toyota Camry on Boorga Road, Nericon, travelling to work when he was stopped by an unknown male at the intersection of Boorga and Lakes roads.

The unknown male asked for a lift and two other males are alleged to have approached the vehicle and forcibly removed the victim from the driver’s seat and into the back, when one of the other men began driving.

A short time later, the vehicle became stuck on the embankment after travelling about 20 metres through trees and bush.

All the persons of interest allegedly left the Camry and got into another vehicle – a black sedan.

He was picked up by an unknown passerby shortly after and taken home.

At about 10:30 am, the victim attended Griffith Police Station and reported the incident. He described the four suspects as aged between 25 and 30.
