A family-run construction company in Wagga is celebrating after claiming a national building award for the second time.

PAH Innovative Construction won the HIA Australian Professional Small Builder/Renovator category in the recent HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards.

Founded by husband and wife duo Paul and Bec Hopper in 2011, the company has since received many awards in construction and business. They won the same category in 2023, when Bec was also named the Professional Business Woman of the Year.

Bec, who is also a founding member of Wagga Women in Construction, said it was an honour to win the award for the second time.

“We’re proud to represent our region and put Wagga on the map,” she said.

“The award is a credit to not just ourselves, but to all our trades and suppliers in the Wagga region as well.”

The company is known for tackling challenging terrain like rural or sloping blocks and the award highlights its dedication for excellence and industry development.

HIA managing director Jocelyn Martin congratulated all the award winners.

“Each year thousands of projects are entered into our Awards program,” she said.

“To be shortlisted as an Australian finalist is a huge achievement, but to be one of the 23 winners means you’re at the pinnacle of residential building.”

The Awards recognise and celebrate talent within the home and construction industry throughout Australia. Winners are selected from state finalists.

“We’re talking about members who not only build extraordinary homes, kitchens, and bathrooms but also run incredibly successful businesses,” Ms Martin said.

“The winning projects redefine what’s possible in terms of design and innovation, setting new standards for the industry.”

Apprentices and businesses who were not selected were encouraged to try again.

“The judges always have to make a tough decision from a strong field of finalists, and this year was no exception,” Ms Martin said.

“Congratulations to all the winners for their outstanding contributions to the industry.”

Aside from PAH Innovative Construction, seven other NSW businesses received national recognition.
