Nicole Dixon loves nothing more than to create art and put a smile on people’s faces. Photo: Supplied.
Who are you and what is your business? I’m Nicole Dixon, and I’ve currently got some work at one of the florists in town, Freckles Flowers. I do drawings of people’s bouquets. They might pop in and buy a bouquet of flowers, and I’ll sketch their bouquets for them. I’m also looking at starting up a cartooning sort of business on the weekends for kids.
Where did you begin? I used to work at Pinot and Picasso. I’ve drawn and created for many years and just wanted to do something that is actually good for the people, and something they actually like. Something a little different.
What inspires you? I’m really creative. I’ve been drawing and creating things for many, many years, so I’ve always been inspired by lots of things, especially kids — I’ve got three kids, so they inspire me all the time.
What do you make? I sell my art pieces, framed or unframed, to people.
Where can we find your art? You can find it at Freckles Flowers at the moment. I’ve got most of my work there and in Morgan Street in Wagga.
What is something we could get from you that would make the perfect gift? A lot of people like to take something home to remember their wedding by, so it’s good for weddings. Also good for a special gift for your mother, or also great for that person, maybe in aged care as well. Just something a little bit different than just a bunch of flowers, because flowers always die and these last forever.
If you could make anything in the world, what would you make? Probably just make people happy. That’s my goal — it’s to bring a smile to people, give them a smile on their faces.
What’s your favourite thing about the Riverina? I really like the people and also the wildlife. We live out of town, which is quite good. I’ve got a couple of pieces that have animals, rabbits and all those, and also the currawongs and things like that. So they keep me quite inspired.
Where do you like to go for coffee? I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but probably Jardine’s Cafe. I like wine, so I’m happy to check out any good wineries.
Who is another local business that you’d love to shout out? Freckles Flowers. They’ve been really supportive of my art, and as soon as I walked in there, they were super friendly. So definitely them.
