A man in his 60s who was trapped in his vehicle after an accident in Henty on Thursday morning (15 May) has been freed by emergency services and is being flown to hospital in Wagga.

“At approximately 9:09 am Thursday, NSW Ambulance responded to a triple zero phone call regarding a single vehicle that had crashed on the Olympic Highway just north of Henty,” a NSW Ambulance spokesperson told Region.

“He came off the highway and crashed on the embankment. There was one occupant in the vehicle – a male in his 60s.”

The man was trapped in his vehicle after the accident. NSW State Emergency Services, the Rural Fire Service, NSW Parademics and NSW Police all arrived on the scene quickly and worked together to free the man.

“He was treated on scene by intensive paramedics before being transferred on a helicopter to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital,” the spokesperson said.

“He has suspected chest and pelvic injuries.”

Emergency services remained on the scene as at 11:40 am, but the Olympic Highway remains open in both directions, though drivers are advised to exercise caution.
