Griffith Police have urged residents to keep their vehicles locked and not to keep valuables or garage door remotes in their cars, after a spate of break-ins last week.

At about 6:30 pm on Tuesday (8 April) and the following night between 10:30 pm on Wednesday and 6 am on Thursday, a large number of residences and vehicles were broken into in Driver, Collina and Willandra Gardens estate, and the vicinity of Sidlow Road.

CCTV cameras at residential premises in Collina captured three persons each night with their faces disguised moving in and around vehicles.

During this time, three vehicles were stolen from Griffith, with one stolen from a Sidlow Road house later recovered on Rankins Springs Road.

A further two vehicles were stolen each night from Gillmartin Ave and later recovered in town. The vehicles have been subjected to forensic examination.

Those responsible allegedly rummaged through cars, taking some items and leaving some that were later found.

Unlocked cars also had garage door remotes inside, which were allegedly taken and used to access more vehicles.
