Murray River Police District investigators are seeking the public’s assistance after two strangers approached a child in the Riverina over the weekend.
Police were told a 10-year-old boy was sitting on the riverbank in Noreuil Park Foreshore, South Albury, when he was approached by an unknown woman who took him by the wrist and walked him over to a man sitting at a bench at about 7 pm on Sunday (19 January).
The boy managed to pull free and ran back to his mother.
Murray River Police District officers attended and are investigating.
Police district crime manager Detective Chief Inspector Jy Brown is urging anyone with information to come forward.
“We know the foreshore is a popular location for locals and visitors and we are appealing to members of the public who were in the area at the time and may have taken mobile phone footage or images, which may feature the male and female described in the background,” Detective Chief Inspector Brown said.
“We are also appealing for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward to assist in the investigation.”
The woman is described as Caucasian, aged between 35 and 45. She was wearing black shorts with a swimming top described as orange, pink and purple with a wavy-line design.
The man is described as Caucasian, aged between 35 and 45, tall, with blonde hair. He was wearing a white shirt and black shorts, and had a tattoo on his arm.
