A man has been charged with allegedly stealing cattle valued at around $18,000 in the Riverina.
Riverina Police District Rural Crime Investigators launched inquiries into an alleged cattle theft at a property in Wanterbadgery, about 38 km east of Wagga Wagga, in November.
Officers were told 18 heads of Angus heifers were allegedly stolen from the rural property between Saturday and Sunday, 2 and 3 November.
The total value of the livestock is estimated at $18,000.
Last Thursday (5 December), officers arrested a 32-year-old man in Oura Road, Oura, around 3 pm. He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with stealing cattle.
He appeared before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Friday, when he was granted strict conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Wednesday, 22 January, 2025.
Police will allege in court that the cattle were presented for sale at Wagga Wagga Livestock Marketing Centre last month (4 November).
Investigations are continuing.
