The second stage of Temora’s $3 million main street upgrade is set to start at the beginning of next year.
The Hoskins Street (Goldfields Way) upgrade, between Victoria and Polaris streets, will begin on Tuesday, 7 January.
The work is expected to take four days to complete each of the four sections. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by Friday, 31 January.
The NSW Government is funding the project, with Temora Shire Council delivering it.
The upgrade to the main street is set to provide a stronger, longer-lasting and safer road while reducing maintenance costs.
“We are giving the community plenty of notice of this work, as we understand it may disrupt how you get in and around town while it is carried out,” a Transport for NSW spokesperson said.
“To help limit impacts, we have scheduled this work for 2025 so it’s not carried out during the busy harvest season or Christmas.”
Stage one of the project, which upgraded the road surface between Kitchener Road and Polaris, Britannia and Victoria streets, was completed in early 2024.
Stage two will be carried out during the day, with the final asphalt seal to be completed at night after the excavation is finished.
The upgrade will be carried out in blocks, starting between Victoria and Loftus streets before progressing north towards Parkes and Polaris streets.
During this project, Hoskins Street (Goldfields Way) will be closed to vehicles and parking during each stage of work between Victoria and Polaris streets. However, footpaths will remain open.
Light vehicles will be detoured via Baker Street, while heavy vehicles will be redirected via Kitchener Road, Lucas, Vesper, Twynam and Polaris streets, and Back Mimosa Road.
Changed traffic conditions, including traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h, will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
