Griffith Police are appealing to the community for information regarding two men who allegedly used a stolen Nissan Xtrail to ramraid the Griffith Motorcycle Centre.

Acting inspector Colleen Hayden informed Region the alleged incident occurring in the early hours of Tuesday (22 October).

Between 1 am and 2 am, two men allegedly entered the yard area of the longstanding business by climbing the security fence. One was wearing a light brown Puma hoodie, black pants, black shoes, white gloves and carrying a long black spanner/pry-type tool. The second person was wearing a black hoodie, with white and black pants along with bright red shoes and black gloves.

Once in the yard, one of the men utilised the pry tool in an attempt to break the padlock on the security gate. This attempt was unsuccessful. However, the men found a Red Honda CRF 250cc Trail Bike, worth $8000, and a Red Honda XR 150cc dirtbike, worth $5000. Both these bikes were wheeled these to the side of the yard before the men exited by climbing over the security fence.

At around 1:36 am this same morning, the men allegedly utilised a stolen silver Nissan Xtrail to ram and push the secured gate of the yard open. The vehicle reversed out, where the two males re-entered the yard and wheeled the motorcycles out of the gate, started them and rode off in a northeasterly direction towards Binya Street, followed by the Silver Nissan Xtrail.

Earlier that day, it was reported to Police that a silver Nissan X-Trail parked alongside the curb of Konoa Street, Griffith, went missing sometime between 5:30 pm on Monday (21 October) and 7 am on Tuesday (22 October).

During the night, unknown persons accessed a second vehicle at the residence, which was unlocked. From this vehicle, they obtained keys to the Xtrail that was used for the ram-raid.

Police urge the community to lock their vehicles and secure their keys.
