Channel Nine breakfast program Today’s weather segment will be broadcast in Griffith on Wednesday, 16 October.

Weatherman Tim Davies will be filmed alongside 65 giant sculptures made from oranges, which are on display for two weeks from Sunday, 13 October, as part of the Real Juice Company Citrus Sculptures exhibition.

“We had the Today show here last year, and it was so successful they jumped at the chance to come straight back,” Griffith tourism manager Mirella Guidolin said.

“We welcome anyone who wants to be part of the crowd to come along.”

The broadcast is scheduled to begin at 5:40 am, with the final segment wrapping up around 8:40 am.

“[Chicken producer] Steggles will be putting on a barbecue breakfast. You can purchase an egg-and-bacon roll and a coffee and the proceeds will go to a charity,” Ms Guidolin said.

Ms Guidolin said the festivities would kick off on Sunday when hundreds of volunteers come out to assemble 100,000 oranges and turn them into 65 giant sculptures.

“It’s a beautiful community day when we have the schoolkids and everyone getting together and working together to showcase Griffith,” she said.

“This year, we are going to have some designs that we haven’t seen before from Yenda Preschool and Yenda Public.

“Joe’s Citrus, an orange-packing shed, will be making an elephant. Law firm Cater and Blumer are doing a lemon. Kitchen remodellers Granite Transformations are doing a tape measure.”

There will also be a series of other events in Griffith this next fortnight as part of the annual Spring Fest.

“Every year, it gets bigger and better,” Ms Guidolin said. ”We’ve got 23 coach groups arriving over the next two weeks. We book them in to attractions in Leeton, Narrandera and the Whitton Malt House, it’s great for tourism in the area.

“Last year, we were able to measure a $25 million injection over the two-week period. They’re just the figures we can capture. We’ve already got 12 people booked in for next year.”
