An entrepreneur who made headlines last year for fulfilling her dream of having a baby after 18 rounds of IVF will speak in Griffith next month.
Lisa Messenger will provide the keynote presentation ‘Unleashing Potential’ for a Griffith Women in Business (GWiB) event at the Griffith Leagues Club on Thursday 20 June.
“Lisa has been very highly requested,” GWiB President Jacinda Violi said. “She’ll openly discuss anything; nothing is off limits.
“She’s a determined and inspiring woman. I heard her myself for the first time in Albury and I was blown away.”
Ms Messenger is the founder and editor of Collective Hub, a print magazine that evolved into a multimedia platform and marketing agency.
“She closed her magazine down and surrounds herself with people who can support her and focus on her strengths. She has written over 30 books herself and also mentors other women to help them with their writing,” Ms Violi said.
Ms Messenger has spoken openly about hitting rock bottom and building her brand up from nothing. She has frank advice for others.
“Tell the world of your grand plan,” she writes in her blog.
“If you are going to dream, then you need to get out there and do something with it. You don’t have to follow every idea – in fact that would be ridiculous, and if I had taken that stance, I’d have a mildly successful dripping wax company instead of a growing global multimedia movement. But you do need to do something with some of them.”
Her determination has also been evident in her personal life. For eight years she tried to have a baby, during which time she spent half a million dollars and underwent 18 rounds of IVF.
“She finally had a baby at age 50, her best friend was her surrogate,” Ms Violi said.
The GWiB president said the June event was for everyone, including men and those not members of her organisation.
“Everyone will learn something, even if you don’t own a business. Lisa explains risk and resilience and will help to find your purpose.”
General admission tickets to the event cost $95. This includes access to the keynote conversation, canapes, and bubbles on arrival.
A VIP package that costs $175 will include a meet and greet with Lisa Messenger, a photo opportunity and a book pack worth $150.
GWiB members get $20 off ticket prices. Ms Violi encourages people to join her group.
“There’s no competition within our group, we get on really well and we always welcome new members and committee members,” she said.
Tickets for the Lisa Messenger event can be purchased on the GWiB website.
