The word is out and local businesses are invited to get their nominations in for Wagga’s 2024 Golden Crow Awards.
For more than 30 years the awards have recognised business excellence in and around the city and Wagga Business Chamber’s Sally Manning said it was a chance to reflect on local success.
“It’s really important that we celebrate business because business is hard,” she said.
“It’s a great time to be able to reflect on the success of your business and what you’ve achieved.
“We encourage all businesses to jump on to our website and view the different categories that are available for you to self apply, or to nominate a business that’s doing amazing things.”
The awards recognise achievements in areas such as growth, ethics, entrepreneurship and sustainability, with a total of 14 categories and the overall award.
WDF Accounting + Advisory took home three awards in 2023, including the Golden Crow, and business manager Annette Davies said it was a huge thrill to be recognised.
“Our teams had a real buzz out of having the award for the last year and we certainly encourage other businesses to partake in that process,” she said.
“It’s a good way to actually reflect on all the good things that you are doing within your business and within the community as well.
Optus returns as the major sponsor for a second year and Regional General Manager Matt Connell said they were looking forward to seeing the nominations roll in.
“We understand the importance and the role that local businesses play, not just in the local economy, but also for the local community,” he said.
“It’s a really good opportunity for business to showcase the great work that they’ve done, particularly over the last 12 months and I think, even with last year’s award, it has just shown that there is actually a lot to celebrate for local business here in Wagga.”
Applications close on Sunday 26 May and Ms Manning said she looked forward to hearing from some of the quiet achievers in the community.
“There’s plenty of them in the city and I really encourage you to get on board and get involved,” she said.
“It can be a really satisfying process to be able to reflect on how far your business has grown and the success of your business over a certain period of time and it also sets you up for new goals going into the future.
“You 100 per cent need to be in it to win it and we just want everyone to get behind it and keep this amazing event alive.
“We’ve got a great vibe happening in the business community and it’s always an enjoyable event to look forward to each year.”
