BaptistCare is getting set to expand its aged care facilities in the Riverina with 37 independent living villas to be added to The Grange Lifestyle Village.
Located off Gregadoo Road in Lake Albert, The Grange is set on 20 hectares and, with the development application now approved, the retirement village will grow from 159 villas to 196.
“We’re thrilled to be able to provide more independent living options for seniors in Wagga Wagga, and 2024 is set to be a big year for BaptistCare in the Riverina,” said BaptistCare Development Manager Ross Morgan.
“We know Australia will increasingly need accommodation and homes for ageing Australians, and BaptistCare is in a position to invest in regional locations like Wagga Wagga, and provide both quality care and services, and employment opportunities,” said Mr Morgan.
BaptistCare NSW & ACT purchased The Grange in February 2022 and also owns the nearby Caloola Centre at Tatton and Watermark Village on Church Street.
The Christian not-for-profit has been investing heavily in recent years and developing ‘clusters’ that allow them to integrate services and offer a “continuum of care model”.
“Alongside constructing these new villas at BaptistCare The Grange, early next year we will complete the redevelopment of our $27 million brand new 80-bed aged care home at BaptistCare Caloola Centre,” said Mr Morgan.
“The new Caloola Centre will make the best use of the land with extensive gardens, walkways and undercover outside areas for residents to enjoy, as well as a new cafe, and we’re very close to being able to welcome the community to see the new home.
“These projects underpin the commitment BaptistCare has to Wagga Wagga, with a pipeline of further development in the Riverina area taking us well into 2026,” Mr Morgan said.

Currently, 17 per cent of the population in Australia is aged 65 or over and it’s estimated that by 2061, that number will increase to 25 per cent.
Retirement living in Wagga is highly sought-after as many over 55s choose to move in from the surrounding towns and villages to take advantage of medical facilities.
In addition to The Grange and Watermark Village, there’s the Gums, The Haven and, in the new northern suburbs, Settlers Village.
Settlers recently completed an expansion with the addition of a string of new townhouses, and now boasts 138 dwellings with plans to build another 12 smaller villas looking south across the river to the city.
BaptistCare hopes to complete the Caloola Centre renovation in the new year and aims to finish the 37 new villas at The Grange by 2026.
