Temora Shire artists and creative groups looking to sell their art or wanting to know how to secure grants are encouraged to attend Eastern Riverina Arts’ (ERA) free workshops.
The ERA mobile office will be in Temora on Thursday (30 November), offering workshops and one-on-one meetings with community members at the Temora Arts Centre.
In the workshop on selling creative works and social media tips, artists and creative groups can learn techniques for spreading the word about their practice and discuss strategies and opportunities to sell their works.
In the workshop on grant application writing, participants can hear from ERA executive director Tim Kurylowicz on maximising their chances of securing funding for projects.
The sessions are offered for artists, creative groups and organisations keen to connect with the local Regional Arts Development Organisation and receive guidance to make their ideas a reality.
Mr Kurylowicz said the organisation tried to be on the ground whenever possible to support the Riverina’s artists and creative groups.
“The value of face-to-face can’t be overstated,” he said. ”So many creative people work alone, and it can be lonely working away on your novel, album or project.
“Creating opportunities for those people to meet each other but also meet the people who can support them is invaluable.
“It is our job to connect people to get to know them and build relationships with them.”
Mr Kurylowicz said arts and cultural activity was the glue that connected other objectives.
“It is critical to making our towns more liveable, vibrant and connected … we see the creative people we engage with as leaders and heroes of their communities,” he said. “We want to support them in what they’re trying to do.”
Mr Kurylowicz said the organisation served eight local government areas in the Riverina.
“The towns in the Riverina have their unique cultural scenes and facilities,” he said.
“We’ve been running since 1994 and been out and about in different ways for the last 10 years and run the mobile office-style services.”
Those seeking a one-to-one consultation with Mr Kurylowicz can register for a 30-minute session between 1 pm and 3 pm.
