Committee 4 Wagga (C4W) is inviting the city’s newest residents to an evening dedicated to welcoming them to the Riverina.
C4W’s Welcome to Wagga event is a chance for new arrivals to join community leaders and organisations for an informative evening filled with entertainment, networking, and food and beverages.
The events are held twice a year, with the next one locked in for 10 November at the Murrumbidgee Turf Club.
“This event allows the newbies to connect and socialise and create their networks from scratch,” C4W chair Adam Drummond said.
“It can be a nerve-wracking thing coming to Wagga because many locals have already got their social circles from school years into adulthood.”
Mr Drummond said the feedback C4W had received from the new residents who had attended the previous Welcome to Wagga events had been highly positive.
“Some of them have appreciated that there are community groups with which they can connect immediately,” he said.
“Others are happy to engage in social networking and meet new people in similar situations when moving to a new city.”
The committee recently took over the reins for the Country Change Program from Wagga Wagga City Council and Mr Drummond said the upcoming event was the first to be supported by Regional Development Australia (RDA) Riverina in conjunction with C4W’s new role as the facilitator of the program.

WWCC Mayor Dallas Tout said the welcome event was an excellent opportunity for new residents to be introduced to the city and “start their love affair” with Wagga.
“It’s great to have people come along, learn and be aware of what’s in the city and make contact with people from Committee 4 Wagga and council,” Councillor Tout said.
“It’s a good opportunity for people to be aware of those who have recently arrived in Wagga.”
Cr Tout attended the previous Welcome to Wagga events and said he loved meeting different groups of people on the night.
C4W recently partnered with the Riverina Conservatorium of Music, and one of its musicians will perform on the night.
So if you are new (or even newish) to town and would like to learn why the locals are so proud of this diverse and vibrant city, come along on Friday, 10 November, between 5:30 and 8:30 pm at the Members’ Lounge at the Murrumbidgee Turf Club, Travers Street, Wagga Wagga.
