A 38-year-old truck driver has faced court over a fatal crash at Darlington Point in September.
Ashley Hall appeared before Griffith Local Court charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death on Wednesday (1 November).
Police allege emergency services were called to the Sturt Highway at Darlington Point after reports of a collision about 3:30 pm on 4 September.
On arrival, emergency services found a car and a truck, which was carrying fruit and vegetables, destroyed by fire.
The 24-year-old male driver of the car died at the scene. Hall, the alleged driver of the truck, was not injured and was taken to Griffith Hospital for mandatory testing.
Murrumbidgee Police District officers established a crime scene and began an investigation into the crash.
Following extensive inquiries, the Tatton man was arrested at Wagga Wagga Police Station, charged and had his licence suspended on 15 September.
Magistrate Trevor Khan set Hall’s next court appearance for 18 January 2024 and said the accused was excused from his next court appearance if legally represented.
