1kg of Methylamphetamine and 700g of heroin discovered during vehicle stop on the Hume Highway

A man has been charged with drug supply offences after more than 1kg of methylamphetamine was seized during a vehicle stop between Wagga and Gundagai overnight.

At about 10:30 pm (Wednesday 13 July 2022), Highway Patrol officers pulled over a tow truck along the Hume Highway around Mount Adrah.

The 45-year-old driver was spoken to by police and subjected to a roadside drug test, which allegedly returned a positive reading.

The results will undergo further analysis.

During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly located and seized more than 1kg of methylamphetamine and more than 700g of heroin.

The driver and his passenger – a 38-year-old man – were arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station.

The younger man was charged with supply prohibited drug commercial quantity – serious indictable offence, and supply prohibited drug large commercial quantity – serious indictable offence.

He appeared in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Thursday 14 July 2022), where he was formally refused bail to reappear in the same court on Wednesday 7 September 2022.

The older man was released pending further inquiries.
