Wagga Wagga City Council has warned motorists about changing road conditions on several roads across the city.
Significant developments to Old Narrandera Road and the Dunns Road project are expected to begin today, Tuesday 3 October.
Once the roadworks begin, traffic on Dunns Road will be limited to one lane to allow for the construction of the new intersection on the Olympic Highway.
The lane closure is expected to last almost six weeks, with traffic controllers remaining on the road 24/7 to manage motorists using the thoroughfare.
WWCC previously closed the road back in August, due to motorists who weren’t residents using the road, however the new changes have limited the road to a single lane.
Council has told motorists to expect delays of at least five minutes if they are travelling through the area.
Senior project manager Tim Morris said the new intersection would improve traffic flow and safety.
“The intersection will feature a dedicated right turn lane onto Dunns Road from the Olympic Highway, along with the installation of new signage and line marking,” Mr Morris said.

“Since construction started in May, contractors have achieved substantial progress, including realigning Dunns Road at the Olympic Highway end, extensive drainage enhancements, and sealing the previously unsealed road section.
“In total, 3.3 kilometres of road have been sealed, and guardrails have been installed to enhance safety for all road-users.”
Old Narrandera Road is expected to take just a couple more weeks to complete with the project entering its last phase this week.
Senior project manager Robert Mithilan said almost two months of intensive work had seen the completion of the earthworks to form the foundation of the widened road sections, stabilisation of the road sub-base and installation of two median islands.
“Efforts will now shift to complete the road base works and seal the road to ensure smoother and safer driving conditions,” Mr Mithilan said.
“The tentative timeline for the project’s completion is around mid-October, pending favourable weather conditions.”
